PENDANT
A pendant is a hanging object, generally attached to a necklace or an earring.
Pendants have several purposes:
ornamentation identification (i.e. religious symbols, sexual symbols, symbols of rock bands)
1. Protection (i.e. amulets, religious symbols)
2. Self-affirmation (i.e. initials, names)
3. Ostentation (i.e. jewels).
4. Award (i.e scouting)
These purposes can be combined (i.e. a richly jewelled symbol).
